Staff Development

Our apprentice scheme is another example of how we look to develop staff

Staff development and training is of the utmost importance to us. All of our operatives are qualified in their field of work, Gas Safe registered, where appropriate, and Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card holders.

We are committed to improving our team’s knowledge base and experience through on the job training. We also provide opportunities to attend external courses that are not only pertinent to each member of staff’s current role but will also afford them the opportunity to progress. We aim to keep all staff up to date with legislative changes through briefings and additional training where relevant.

des“Since starting work with Westminster Building Services Ltd. I have been able to take advantage of a range of training opportunities. Besides my Gas Safe registration I have acquired my CSCS card and taken part in various training courses including working at height and asbestos awareness. I appreciate the investment in my continuing development and I’m sure that this approach is reflected in the quality of work that everyone on the team is able to deliver.”

Apprenticeships

We have an apprenticeship programme that nurtures and develops talented young people. Our apprentices benefit from work shadowing more experienced staff, including senior management, alongside attending college to gain their qualifications. Unfortunately we have no apprenticeship places available at the moment.

lee“I have been an Apprentice at Westminster Building Services Ltd. for two years and during that time I have successfully completed Level 2 of my NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating and in September 2015 I will start my gas installation pipework course. Whilst working here I have also been able to gain additional qualifications; I have acquired my CSCS card as a registered plumbing trainee and attended working at height and asbestos awareness training.

“Day to day I work in occupied council dwellings shadowing senior staff members responsible for central heating, boiler and radiator installations. I get the chance to learn something new each day and I’m confident that my time here will give me the right understanding and experience I need to become a fully qualified plumbing and heating engineer.”
